"I am not like everyone else.. Should I be? No, it's all wrong. I am not like them."
Yes, the realisation of truth that one is not a clone - but is an individual.
A continuation of the Escapology theme that I seemed to be so attracted to.
This piece of work, partnered with another piece, was for a competition named 'Tall Tales'. The competition was for illustration work, but I won't find out anything until September now, that is if I win. I had fun drawing the two pieces, so I would be happy if my work just had a mention somewhere - which is what I think is important.
I need to get my work out there, so this is a good start.
I created this piece using research found on the internet for the poses and using the references of Egon Schiele's figurative works. It was drawn in pencil first, then painted, then worked back into with fineliner.
I personally don't think you could have done a better job. This piece is amazing: the colors, the empty eyes. She seems to be in the shadows herself too, with her own self-consciousnesses. I adore it.
Great piece, as I've told you before. There's the whole solitude angle that you've played up really well, but also, you seem to have taken into consideration the idea that it is getting harder and harder to maintain individuality in the modern age. The girl, amongst all the similar people, reflects that wonderfully.
Great work, kiddo, and happy B-Day for tomorrow!

I like it. I would describe the over all style as strange, quite alien and nearly a bit awkward, but in a good kind of way, one that my eyes does not see too often. I feel reminded of the works of Picasso when I observe the strange anatomy/ dimension of the faces in the picture.
I also feel slightly gripped by the colours and shadowing. It feels somehow strange to me, but in a very stylish way (maybe it was not intended, but I do not feel like you ought to change it. It gives character and personality to the piece, not to mention it fits extremely well with the already grim setting).

Thanks for the comment Rad - Yeah it is a bit strange isnt it? Mm it reminds me a bit of a picasso piece, too.. Only slightly though. I'm glad that you were gripped by the colours and shadows - I wanted the lady in the middle to stand out more than anyone else and I think it worked nicely.
Thanks again and take care - hope you're doing well.
